These are all symptoms of a traumatic brain injury, which can be quite dangerous and result in permanent damage if not treated by a medical specialist. Neck pain is a less-common sign of traumatic brain injury that many accident victims don’t identify with concussions or a violent blow to the head.

SYMPTOMS OF NECK PAIN THAT COULD BE ASSOCIATED WITH A TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY INCLUDE:

  • Sharp throbbing pain that lasts all day
  • Tension
  • Stiffness
  • When looking in a certain direction, there is pain.
  • Certain activities are linked to pain.
  • Weakness or tingling in the arms, legs, hands, or fingers Weakness or tingling in the arms, legs, hands, or fingertips

NECK PAIN CAUSES ASSOCIATED WITH TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY

When the head is injured, why is the neck involved? At our spine surgery hospital in Dubai, we understand there are a variety of post-concussion or traumatic brain injury concerns that can result in neck pain. There could be a physical injury to the neck as a consequence of whiplash or a fall, or there could be nervous system dysfunction as a result of the head injury.

THE FOLLOWING ARE SOME OF THE MOST COMMON CAUSES OF NECK PAIN AFTER A TBI:

Sprains, strains, tissue rips, and broken bones are all examples of physical injury to the soft tissue or bones of the neck.

Neck nerve damage produces stress, inflammation, blood pressure fluctuations, and other symptoms.

Neck muscles might be strained as a result of injury-induced visual and hearing abnormalities.

Damage to the pain-sensing region of the brain causes altered pain perception.

Compensatory actions to alleviate pain in other regions, such as adjusting posture and rotating the head in a specific way to avoid pain, all put strain on the neck muscles.

Misalignment of the spine, including herniated discs, misaligned vertebrae, and injury to the spinal cord.
