Dr. Mendes is a doctorate and consultant in Clinical Psychology with more than 18 years’ of experience in Clinical Psychology, Psychotherapy, and academic research in the field of Clinical and Health Psychology.

Dr. Mendes works with adults and teenagers suffering from a variety of emotional and behavioral problems and is highly recognized for her humanistic and compassionate approach. Her strong academic background and professional skills allow her to customize the therapy to best serve the patient’s needs and development.

Dr. Mendes has a Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic theoretical background but often offers an Integrative approach to psychotherapy (integration of Psychodynamic, Interpersonal, Existentialist, CBT, EFT, and Humanist psychotherapeutic approaches), in long-term and short term weekly psychotherapy, with the purpose of minimizing emotional suffering, promote positive change and enhance patient’s mental health and wellbeing.

Dr. Mendes is also a senior accredited clinical supervisor in the field of Clinical Psychology and Health Psychology and coordinated the Mental Health Department of Lisbon University Medical Center for over 12 years.

She was Associate Professor of Developmental Psychology for more than 14 years in the High Institute of Sciences and Education (ISEC) and is a keynote speaker in several international conferences.

Dr. Mendes also coordinated the Clinical Psychology Consultation of the Pedagogical and Counseling Center of the Faculty of Psychology of Lisbon University and co-founded the Early Intervention Center for Child Development and Family Support in Portugal. She earned the EAAD Award from the European Alliance Against Depression and Faculty of Medicine of Lisbon University, among other awards.
