Problems With Your Arteries (Peripheral Artery Disease, Subclavian Artery Disease, Renal Artery Disease, Coronary Artery Disease)

One of the most common issues that we come across when it comes to arteries is the build of fatty deposits which restricts blood flow. This can have various negative effects depending on the artery impacted, when occurring in the artery carrying blood to the leg muscles it is known as peripheral arterial disease or peripheral vascular disease, or if it is the renal arteries (carrying blood to the kidneys) it is known as renal artery disease. Risk factors with these kind of diseases include hypertension, lifestyle factors such as smoking, stress, obesity, lack of exercise, excessive alcohol consumption and poor diet. Coronary artery disease also has a heritability risk factor, with research indicating that genetics influences the risk factor by between 40% to 60%.

    • Arrhythmia

Arrhythmia refers to heart rythm problems, and are experienced by a large number of people each year. There main types of arrhythmia are atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia, bradycardia, heart block and ventricular fibrillation.

    • Angina (Chest Pain)

Angina is chest pain that is due to the reduction of blood flow to the heart muscles. Usually, this condition is not life threatening but can be a warning sign of increased risk of stroke or heart attack.

    • Blood Clots

Blood clots, also known as thrombus, are the final step in the coagulation process that is part of hemostasis. Sometimes blood clots form when not needed and this can increase the risk of heart attacks, strokes or other serious medical problems.

    • Heart Valve Disease

Heart valves can suffer from a variety of issues, stenosis is when the valve narrows or stiffens to the point where it does not left enough blood flow past, regurgitation or leakage is another common issue which occurs when the valve cannot close properly.

    • Heart Failure

    CARTO® 3 SYSTEM

Optimal decision making is not possible without information, the Carto 3 system is advanced imaging medical technology that takes advantage of the latest developments in electromagnetic technology to build real-time three-dimensional (3D) maps of a patient’s cardiac structures.

The system is designed to help electrophysiologists navigate the heart by generating an accurate 3D map, and with this information we are able to build the most accurate picture of the heart’s health, the most accurate diagnosis and the best options for treatment of any issues that may be uncovered.
