Dr. Francesco Cappellano is a well-established Senior Consultant Urologist with 30 years of experience in the field of urology, neurourology and urogynecology clinical and surgical procedures. Dr. Francesco completed his MD with honors; followed by his residency in Urology and CCT Urology at the Naples University “Federico II” School of Medicine, Italy. He has also undergone training in Microsurgery, Urodynamics, Andrology and Oncology.
Skilled in open and endoscopic urological surgery, Dr. Francesco’s special interest is in Neurourology, Men’s Health and Female Urology. He has performed more than 800 permanent implants of sacral roots and pudendal nerve neuromodulators. One of the pioneers of Neuromodulation in Europe, he has imparted this intricate skill to many physicians across the world. He has also pioneered the posterior tibial nerve stimulation (PTNS) in 1998 and PRF for incontinence, chronic pain and ano-rectal dysfunctions in adult, pediatric and transitional age.
In his career, he has served as the Head of Department of Urology and Neurourology at Fakeeh University Hospital, Dubai and also held several other key positions in the UAE, USA and in Europe.
Dr. Francesco is deeply committed to research and widening his knowledge base in the field of urology. He is the author and co-author of more than 100 papers, 2 video tapes, 6 book chapters on Neurourology and Urodynamics. His work has been published in various peer-reviewed papers and publications. He has been bestowed several accolades and awards for his pioneering work including Best Paper Award at Siud 1995, Best of Podium Session at Aiug 2002, Best Paper Award Euga – Berlin 2013 among others.
